Cybernetica delivers an innovative VHF communication system for Danube River in Romania

“We have had the pleasure of working with Cybernetica since 2006 and have always been impressed with the quality and reliability of their VHF radiocommunication solutions for vessel traffic.”

Mr. Silviu Apostol

Romanian Naval Authority

Cybernetica in cooperation with KDU have successfully completed a project for the Romanian Naval Authority (RNA) delivering a novel VHF radio communication system along the whole stretch of Danube River, the country’s main inland waterway.

This project has a significant impact on Romania, as the modern radio communication system along the Danube waterway is of vital importance to the country. The Danube holds significant economic importance for all 10 countries that it borders, making a safe and efficient traffic management paramount.

Martin Link, Cybernetica’s Head of the Surveillance Systems Department, said: "It’s a privilege for the Surveillance Systems Department of Cybernetica to deliver such an important system to the Romanian Naval Authority. The Danube, stretching more than 1000km along Romania, presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate the novelty of system design and advanced features; and for our team the ability to deliver and deploy such systems in challenging environments."

Oliver Väärtnõu, CEO of Cybernetica, added: “Cybernetica is very happy to continue the long-term cooperation with the Romanian Naval Authority which began in 2006. In addition, we are looking forward to further collaboration with our long-term partner KDU. The Romanian Naval Authority has been a great client for us over the years, and we deem the partnership fruitful in the long run.”

Within 12 months, the existing solution was gradually phased out and replaced with Cybernetica’s radio system in more than 20 operational locations along the river side. The radio system being an intrinsic constituent to the RoRiS – the Romiania’s main navigation tool on the Danube inland waterway – RNA, besides changing an outdated solution, was able to enter into a new era of navigation systems, and enhance RoRiS as a whole.

Cybernetica continues to work with the Romanian Naval Authority and Romanian partners for both the Danube River and the Black Sea coasts.

"We have had the pleasure of working with Cybernetica since 2006 and have always been impressed with the quality and reliability of their VHF radiocommunication solutions for vessel traffic. Their commitment to providing reliable and efficient communication systems and services has made them a trusted partner for us. With their state-of-the-art technology and experienced team of professionals, they have demonstrated an exceptional ability to stay ahead of the curve, swiftly incorporating emerging technologies into their solutions.
