In June 2022 I joined Cybernetica’s Digital Identity Team as the Head of Sales and Partnerships for Digital Identity Technologies. Before joining Cybernetica, I was the Head of Space Solutions for Guardtime. During the last three years in Guardtime I mostly spent my days applying cutting edge blockchain technology to define and overcome the space sector’s cybersecurity challenges. I was initiating, leading and participating in collaborative international research and innovation projects, mostly with the European Space Agency, for establishing trust and security in space data and systems. Space has and is a fast-growing technology domain, which for decades has been one of the key sources of new technologies, materials and systems but today is undergoing massive changes due to digitalisation, increasing application of Big Data and other technologies, hence becoming itself an end-user for technologies developed and deployed elsewhere. More and more also related to cybersecurity and data/system protection.
So, it was in a way a natural step forward for me to join Cybernetica, another well-known Estonian ICT RD and technology powerhouse to deploy my skills and competencies for another fast-growing and rapidly evolving domain such as Digital Identity. Over the years, Cybernetica has developed its SplitKey Authentication and Digital Signature technology as the next generation digital identity technology solution, turning every smart phone into secure authentication and qualified signature device, currently already with more than three million users across the Baltic States. My key task in my position will be to help Cybernetica’s SplitKey technology become the critical security component for the future Digital Identity Wallets in Europe and worldwide.

There are plenty of new opportunities for this lying ahead, notably with the adoption of digital wallets - the future of digital identity verification worldwide. We all know the EU Digital Wallet is on the way. What does it mean to people like you and me? Proving your identity whether you are opening a bank account, renting a flat or a business registering a new service is a common everyday practice. Imagine if you could do it in seconds via a mobile wallet app that works anywhere in the EU? Or in the world. Exciting times ahead indeed.
Before joining the tech business, I spent many years with the Estonian government as the Head of Innovation/Technology Policy at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. In 2016-2018 I was overseeing the space dossier during the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017 in Brussels. I’m a 2019 graduate of Tallinn University of Technology (MSc in Digital Business Transformation) and 2002 College d’Europe in Poland (MA in Economic Policy). I’ve also completed the Executive Space Course at International Space University in Strasbourg in 2016. My most recent endeavor was to pass the exam for a small boat driver's certificate which entitles me to steer any small ship or yacht up to 24 m in length anywhere in the world.
