Cybernetica expands European consortium to advance Military Mobility Software

We have brought together a strong European consortium to further develop our military mobility software SDMMS, with preparations under way to submit an application to the 2026 round of the European Defence Fund.

This stems from a real operational problem. Whenever military equipment needs to cross a European border, customs procedures and paper documentation can take up critical hours. And those delays are not merely inconvenient. The ability to move forces quickly across borders directly affects our collective security.

SDMMS1, developed with European Defence Fund (EDF) support, addresses this directly. The software digitises the permits, approvals, and coordination required for military mobility across Europe, cutting the time and resources spent on bureaucratic delays.

The platform has already proven itself on two fronts. At NATO's CWIX exercise in June 2025, SDMMS was deployed and used by military personnel from the United States, Finland, and Estonia in a secured environment, confirming the interoperability with NATO LOGFAS.

In fall, a three-day exercise in Tallinn brought together military logistics experts from defence forces and defence ministries from all 11 consortium countries (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania and Norway). Belgium, France, Finland, and Sweden joined as observers.

The next phase adds functionality to fully support secure and fast military movement from headquarters to the tactical level. This means improved resilience and continuous system operations in times of crisis, post-quantum cryptography, and tracking and monitoring capabilities across departure, transit, and destination states. Together, these capabilities will advance the platform to TRL8.

"The EDF grant enabled us to create a truly innovative product that digitises a highly complex area of interoperability," said Arne Ansper, Cybernetica's Chief Technology Officer and SDMMS Project Lead.

"But a deteriorating geopolitical environment and increasing cyber threats demand further innovation to ensure the system can handle every challenge ahead. And that is precisely what we aim to achieve with our new project."
