Meet the Team: Sadig, Android Developer

Every Friday afternoon, you'll find Sadig trading his keyboard for boxing gloves, heading to sparring practice with a friend. It's this same discipline and strategic thinking that he brings to his work as an Android Developer at Cybernetica—where he's helping build the 'Lego houses inside your phone,' as he'd explain to a five-year-old.

  • Name: Sadig
  • Position: Android Developer
  • Operating System: Mac :)
  • Nationality: Azerbaijani

We sat down with Sadig to learn more about his journey from math olympiads in Azerbaijan to Android development in Estonia.

If you had to explain your job to a five-year-old, how would you do it?

You know how you play games or watch cartoons on a phone or tablet? Well, I help make those little programmes work! I build the buttons you tap, the screens you see, and make sure everything runs smoothly—like building Lego houses, but inside the phone.

How did you get started in the IT field?

I first got into IT back in my school days. I was very good at maths and even won medals in maths Olympiads. That naturally led me to become interested in algorithms, and from there I started programming. Later, I pursued a bachelor's degree in computer science and went on to complete my master's in the field.

How did you find your way to your current position at Cybernetica?

I found my way to Cybernetica through a good friend who had worked there. When I moved to Estonia, he told me about an open Android Developer position. I looked into the role and the projects the company was working on, and I felt it was a perfect fit for me.

What's the best thing about working at Cybernetica?

The best thing about working at Cybernetica is the constant learning. I get to work with highly professional teams and contribute to big, meaningful projects, which helps me grow both technically and personally.

What's your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of my job is the flexibility. I can set my own working hours and work remotely, which gives me the freedom to manage my time better and create a good work-life balance.

What tech trend excites you the most right now?

Unfortunately, AI.

If you weren't in IT, what career would you have pursued? Why?

If I weren't in IT, I'd probably have become a mathematician, since I've always had a strong passion for maths. Or maybe even a fighter—it's completely different, but I like the discipline and challenge that comes with it.

Do you have any hobbies or side projects?

I have quite a few hobbies that keep me active and balanced. After work, I usually go to the gym—I enjoy fitness because it helps me stay disciplined and energised. I'm also passionate about music; I play the guitar and especially love performing classical pieces, which I find both relaxing and challenging. Another big interest of mine is martial arts, and I regularly go sparring with a friend on Fridays—it's a great way to combine physical activity with strategy. I also enjoy playing video games in my downtime—my favourites are UFC and eFootball.

On the academic side, I'm writing my master's thesis, so a lot of my free time also goes into reading articles and doing research, which I genuinely enjoy as it keeps me curious and learning.

If your office had a theme song, what would it be?

"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

Are you a cat or dog person? Why do you resonate more with cats/dogs?

I'm definitely more of a dog person. I love how clever and loyal they are. I actually have a dog back in Azerbaijan—his name is Bobby, and he's three years old. Whenever I'm there, I love spending time with him and playing games together. He's a big source of joy for me.

Ready to write your own story at Cybernetica?

Like Sadig, you could find yourself working on meaningful projects with the flexibility to pursue your passions—whether that's classical guitar, martial arts, or time with your own Bobby. We're always looking for talented people who value continuous learning and want to make an impact.
