Cybernetica AtoN competence employed at global harmonization of marine navigation safety

The team of the Navigation Systems Department of Cybernetica recently passed the marker of 22 years at marine aids to navigation (AtoN) product and system development. Having joined the International Association of Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) as an industrial member in 1998 and invited as a technical expert member to the IALA Engineering and Sustainability Committee (ENG, former EEP) in 2008, Cybernetica was recently honoured by the IALA World Wide Academy with the invitation to participate in training of AtoN specialists. In August 2015 Mr Aivar Usk, Member of Cybernetica Management Board and head of Navigation Systems Department, had the pleasure of participating as a lecturer in the course "Aids to Navigation Level 1 – Manager Training. Introduction to Remote Monitoring of AtoN” held at IALA HQ in Paris for participants from 7 countries. With several innovative concepts implemented in AtoN lights and telematics, Cybernetica continues development of world class products in order to advance the maritime safety.

The IALA World Wide Academy was established in 2012 as a vehicle of IALA delivering training and capacity building for global harmonization of marine navigation safety. It enables National Authorities to meet their States’ respective obligations under the UNCLOS and SOLAS conventions, as detailed in recommendations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and IALA. Within few years time of existence, working closely with IALA technical committees, the Academy has prepared numerous model courses that provide unique resource for training of AtoN specialists and managers, enabling to harmonize knowledge and skill sets for consistent provision of that AtoN service on the global scale.
