Cybernetica signed agreement with Greenlandic Agency for Digitisation to deploy Unified eXchange Platform technology for the secure data exchange framework Pitu as part of the National Digitisation Strategy. During the pilot phase, UXP will enable secure data exchange between the first organisations that have joined the initiative.
"We are excited to be a part of the digitisation initiative of Greenland, particularly for the task of building a solid technological foundation," said Riho Kurg, Head of UXP at Cybernetica. "This project enables us to explore new horizons quite literally, due to the extraordinary legal and geographical aspects of Greenland," Kurg added.
The pilot agreement was signed on the 30th of May, after which several technical workshops were carried out. "We work on two parallel tracks," said John Siegstad, Head of Agency for Digitisation in Greenland. "We have already established a pilot platform that we continuously develop. The second track is that we need both legislation and governance to ensure that relevant producers submit their validated data securely. It will take time! This is not done within a year. But we're priviledged due to that we can build on experiences and lessions learned by others," Siegstad explained.
Cybernetica UXP technology has been implemented in several national data exchange frameworks, such as Trembita in Ukraine, NamX in Namibia and others. The newly established framework in Greenland is called "Pitu", named after an integral connecting clasp of the dog-sled harness in the local language.
According to the Estonian Ambassador to Denmark and Greenland, H.E Märt Volmer, the collaboration of Cybernetica and Greenland comes as very good news to the embassy. "Although seemingly far, Greeland is close to us, as a tiny Nordic nation in pursuit of a better way to run their lives. We are glad to see that even so far away, Estonian e-services a well known. Supporting Cybernetica's activities in Greenland, we create new opportunities for other Estonian companies - as is the example of Ridango and their public transport ticketing system. We hope that these new opportunities lead to further collaboration," Volmer said.
